3 in custody after fleeing police in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) —Three people are in custody after fleeing from police in downtown Nashville early Thursday morning.

Metro police were called to 1st Avenue South and Broadway near Acme Feed and Seed after someone called 911 to report witnessing someone point a gun at a person in a car.

Officers found the car described and say when they approached it, two of the three suspects ran. 

Officers chased Demond Roach, 32, and say when they caught up with him he took a fighting stance, cussed at the officers and said “let’s go.”

Police say Roach was swinging his elbows and hit one of the officers in the face. 

The second suspect who ran, according to police, is Chason Lipscomb, 22.

Police chased after him and say once he was stopped, they found a handgun and digital scale in his pocket.

Officers searched the car the suspects were in and reporting finding another gun, cocaine and marijuana. 

The third suspect is a juvenile.
