Two men were arrested after police allegedly caught them wheeling hundreds of dollars of stolen merchandise out of a Mt. Juliet Walmart.

According to police, just before 8 p.m. Monday, an officer saw a car parked illegally at Walmart. As the officer went to check it out, he saw two men running with a shopping cart of about $350 worth of stolen merchandise from the store towards the car.

Police said when the officer told them all to stop, both men took off running towards a wooded area behind the Walmart. The officer gave chase and other officers joined in to help.

Officials said the men were found hiding in the area and were arrested without incident. The driver of the car was not identified because they quickly sped away and were not located.

29-year-old Marcus White and 32-year-old Trevaughn Hunter were arrested. Medics were called because both men complained of being out of breath and officers were concerned about the condition of Hunter’s eye.

Hunter told police his eye’s condition was due to a stabbing incident some time ago.
