A 15-year-old has been charged with an armed carjacking outside the public library at Global Mall on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. when police said the teen, identified as Mario Gouda, reportedly approached the victim and asked for an address.

Police said the victim looked up the address on his cell phone and gave it to the juvenile. According to police, Gouda then allegedly pulled a gun and ordered the man out of a 2007 Nissan Maxima.

The victim complied, and the teen drove off.

Police spotted the stolen Nissan traveling on Nashboro Boulevard near Murfreesboro Pike a short time later. The driver then fled through a Kroger parking lot before turning into oncoming traffic on Nashboro Boulevard and striking a tree in the median of the road.

Gouda was taken into custody and police recovered a stolen and loaded 9-millimeter pistol with a laser sight. Ammunition was also found in the console. Police said the gun was stolen in 2015 from an Ohio gunstore.

Police said the teen refused to speak to detectives. He is charged with aggravated robbery.
