NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)- A 22-year-old man was killed in a shootout at a short-term rental property Saturday night in Nashville’s historic Buena Vista neighborhood.

Metro police have identified the victim as Dedrian Clendening of Nashville. The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday night in the 900 block of Monroe Street.

Residents living in the 900 block of Monroe Street reported hearing multiple gunshots just before 11 p.m. Saturday night.

Officers who responded to the scene found multiple shell casings but no gunshot victims. According to Metro police, Clendening was dropped off by a private vehicle at TriStar Centennial Medical Center suffering from a wound to the head.

Metro police reported a short-term rental condo had been rented by a group of females who were having a girls-only slumber party.

Investigators said a group of men arrived and hung around the front door of the condo, which is when a car approached and opened fire at the condo and the group of men that were hanging around outside. Several men that were in front of the condo returned gunfire resulting in the car driving off, according to Metro police.

Metro police believe Clendening was in a vehicle when he was shot, but it remains unclear if he was in the car with those who originated gunfire.

A neighbor told News 2 in all her decades of living in the area, this has never happened and now she is surrounded by short-term rentals.

“We don’t have any neighbors anymore. When the tornado hit, everyone got displaced, houses got tore down, people couldn’t afford to or chose not to so now it’s just the three of us on this little corner and we don’t have any neighbors. All of those over there are Airbnbs, nobody over there to watch. All of these around us are Airbnbs and without neighbors, it’s kind of hard,” explained Darcus Williams.
