MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Montgomery County attorneys Fletcher Long and Carrie Gasaway were found guilty of extortion Tuesday afternoon.
Long and Gasaway were charged in March 2014 following a two-year investigation into allegations they tried to force a client to pay them $50,000 for services.
According to a release at the time of their indictment, the victim said she sought legal services from Gasaway in October 2010 to read her father’s will. An initial will was agreed upon by both parites.
After the will reading, Gasaway requested the victim sign a contract for an additional $50,000.
When the victim refused, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Long joined Gasaway in making continued demands for the additional payment.
The case went to trial last week and the jury delivered their verdict Tuesday.
