NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Country legend Charlie Daniels donated $100,000 to a local non-profit group that focuses on serving veterans.

Keith M. Huber, retired lieutenant general of the U.S. Army, is the chairman of Nashville Serving Veterans and said they work through community collaborations.

He said along with Daniels’ donation, Operation Stand Down Tennessee has offered to fiscally sponsor them, and Dev Digital has offered to build and host a virtual welcome center for veterans coming into Nashville.

“This type of collaboration is an incredible example of how Nashville and this great state of Tennessee appreciate and respect our returning veterans and their precious military families,” Huber told News 2.

Daniels has always been a big advocate for veterans.

He said his formative days were in the Second World War, and he remembers the day Pearl Harbor was bombed.

“I learned right away there are only two things that protect America-the grace of God and the United States Military. We can never do enough for our veterans,” he told News 2.

“They have their own particular sets of problems when they come back, especially from warzones, and we just try to help them transition back into civilian life,” Daniels explained.

He added, “We owe them an unpayable debt of gratitude.”
