CALGARY (WTNH) – A Canadian man was arrested Sunday for tying balloons to a lawn chair and taking to the skies.
Police in Calgary tell ABC News that 26-year-old Daniel Bora attached 150 giant helium-filled balloons to a lawn chair and soared into the sky for miles.
One of Bora’s business partners say Bora works in marketing and that this was a promotional stunt for a cleaning company.
However this stunt didn’t go quite as planned.
“He had no control device on the balloons and really was just traveling by the grace of the wind,” Derek Mohajer told ABC News. “It was a little too windy and he went a little too high and the stunt wasn’t responsible.”
Bora eventually jumped from the chair and opened a parachute that he had attached to his back. However he missed his landing zone, and sustained minor ankle injuries.
Bora was arrested and charged with mischief causing danger to life. He has since been released.
The whereabouts of his balloons and lawn chair are unknown at this time.
