British theft suspect goes viral for likeness to David Schwimmer

News

A post by a British police department has gone viral thanks to the suspect’s uncanny likeness to “Friends” actor David Schwimmer.

Blackpool police posted a surveillance photo of the man clutching a case of beer the department said was stolen from a restaurant in September.

Soon after police posted the photo, fans of the 90’s sitcom bombarded the Facebook post with jokes inspired by the show.

Police later commented Schwimmer was not in the UK at the time of the theft.

“Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date,” they wrote.

“We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”

The post has over 100,00 comments and has been shared nearly 70,000 times in less than 24 hours.

“I don’t think it’s been this guy’s day, his week, his month or even his year,” wrote one man, while a woman quipped: “I’m surprised you’ve not found him… it’s like you’re always stuck in second gear.”

“Shouldn’t he be at work…or is he on a break?”, asked another man.

Scottish police also jumped in, sharing the post and warning members of the public to “keep away” from the suspect.

“He is known to have studied Karate and we believe he has mastered the art of Unagi, the state of total awareness,” they wrote.
