Blue Raider defense dominates in MTSU’s 21-13 win over Charlotte

If you like offense, MTSU’s 21-13 win over Charlotte at Floyd Stadium was not the game for you.

Each team found the red zone only once. The game came down to defense and special teams as the Blue Raiders tallied 14 of their 21 total points off turnovers alone.

After the game head coach Rick Stockstill said the team needed a win and got one despite the lopsided performances between his offense and defense. So, he will celebrate it like any other win.

“Heck, we won! Nothing to be mad about. We won so I’m in there leading the dance, we’re dancing. That was a great win. I could care less if we win 2-0, 21-13 or 100-0,” Stockstill said.  “We won and we’re going to be happy. We’re going to celebrate.

Interestingly enough, Middle Tennessee hosted Charlotte as part of their homecoming game and in a few weeks in Knoxville, the Vols will host the 49ers for their homecoming game inside Neyland Stadium.

MTSU is on the road next Saturday at Old Dominion at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
