A semi caught fire on I-840 Monday night, shutting down the highway for several hours.

The Murfreesboro Fire Department reports two people and 3 dogs got out safely and were not injured.

The truck was fully involved.

About 200 gallons of fuel leaked onto the highway and into the storm drains.

Rutherford Emergency Management crews were called out to clean up the spill.

Traffic was diverted at mile marker 55.

The road was scheduled to open around midnight, but the time was pushed to 4 a.m.
