Barn destroyed in Rutherford County fire

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Investigators in Rutherford County are working to figure out what sparked a fire Tuesday night that destroyed a barn in Rockvale.

Rutherford County Fire Rescue responded around 11:30 p.m., along with multiple other agencies, to a reported fire at an agricultural building on Rockvale Road near Concord Creek.

Neighbors told dispatchers they heard explosions coming from a barn.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were visible, along with 350 bales of hay on fire.

Crews worked for several hours to get the fire under control.

Emergency officials warned Rockvale residents to expect smoke in the area for the next several days as the hay continued to smolder.
