Autopsy report reveals new details in Nashville man's unsolved murder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Months after a man was found dead inside his apartment in the Nations neighborhood, an autopsy report is revealed new information in his unsolved murder.

Daniel Shields was found inside his apartment in July. At the time, police said his home was bloody and his body was decomposing.

On Thursday, News 2 obtained his autopsy report where the medical examiner ruled the 30-year-old died as a result of multi-modality trauma, which could include being beaten, stabbed and strangled.

Shields’ death has been ruled a homicide. According to the autopsy report, a pillow with a bloody handprint was found near his body and Shields had been bound by his ankles and wrists.

Shields’ car was found several miles away from where he lived.

No arrests have been made in the case and police said there have been few clues in their investigation.
