22-year-old killed at Hermitage home shooting; Gunman at large

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One person was killed in a shooting at a home in Hermitage Wednesday morning and police are working to locate the suspect.

Police have identified the victim as 22-year-old Matthew Stewart.

The shooting happened before 4 a.m. at a home on Monaco Drive, which is near the intersection of Lebanon Road and Old Hickory Boulevard.

Metro police said when officers arrived at the home, a person who lives inside came out with a gunshot wound to their hand.

Investigators determined Christian Mendl and Stewart were in an argument when Stewart reportedly shot Mendl in the arm.

Officials say a second gunman saw Stewart shoot Mendl and allegedly turned around and shot Stewart.

Stewart died on scene.

According to Metro, Mendl was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
