MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) - A 54-year-old man has been charged with killing his wife in Murfreesboro Sunday morning.
Murfreesboro officers responded to what police described as a “domestic situation” in the 400 block of Sunset Avenue just before 3 a.m.
Martin Benito Montemayor, 54, is accused of killing his wife, Judith Montemayor, 53, according to Murfreesboro police.
Montemayor is charged with first-degree murder. He was taken to the Rutherford County jail where he remains without bond.
He is also charged with being a fugitive from justice, which stems from an outstanding warrant for a parole violation from a previous double homicide in Texas.
Details of that case and his subsequent conviction are unclear.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division have requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
No additional information was immediately released.
