NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – More than four dozen brand new appliances were stolen from a Murfreesboro apartment complex currently under construction.
The theft was reported Tuesday but investigators suspect it happened over the Super Bowl weekend at the complex off Swanholme Drive.
A total of 53 appliances, including refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, were stolen-from the first, second and third stores.
And according to authorities, no one heard a thing.
Caitlin Carter has lived in Belden Reserve a little over a month. The recent MTSU grad is shocked to learn the thieves got away with $30,000 in appliances just on the other side of her complex.
“It’s just kind of scary. That’s insane,” she told News 2. “This is in the middle of nowhere just outside of town. The cops are not here quite as often. It’s a new part of the complex that is being developed, so it is a little nerve-racking.”
Officials said all of the apartments undergoing construction were locked and there no signs of forced entry. Someone had to have a key to get inside.
The apartments were nearly completed and ready to be leased in as little as two weeks.
The apartments were being finalized and would have been ready to be leased in the next two weeks.
“There are no lights over there. Nobody is going to realize that people are over there walking around with appliances,” Carter added.
Sources told News 2 there is surveillance footage of the area, but it’s not known if they captured anything or anyone.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Murfreesboro police at 615-893-1311.
