22 lbs of cocaine, heroin, guns seized in major Nashville drug bust

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Tuesday in a major Nashville drug bust that involved both a home and storage unit across the city.

Walter Jones, 45, faces multiple drug charges after he was taken into custody in an East Nashville traffic stop.

Metro police said Jones was arrested after leaving a home on North 2nd Street following a continued investigation after a citizen complained about illegal drug activity.

According to a press release, inside his car officers found several bags containing cocaine and heroin, a loaded handgun, drug paraphernalia including digital scales, a marijuana grinder, and sandwich baggies, and more than $3,000 cash.

Further investigation led Metro police to execute a search warrant at a storage unit on Cane Ridge Road. Inside the unit were two handguns, 22 pounds of cocaine, and more than six pounds of heroin.

A second search warrant was executed at Jones’ home in on 24th Avenue North, police said, where detectives found 1.63 pounds of heroin, a rifle, three handguns, and drug paraphernalia.

Jones is charged with possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to distribute, felon in possession of a gun, unlawful gun possession during the commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Metro police say he has previous convictions for murder, aggravated robbery, and drug possession.

Jones is being held in lieu of $550,000 bond.
