Two teenagers were shot and killed in Lebanon Sunday night and a teenaged suspect has been taken into custody.
Lebanon police were called to the Pilot gas station located at 921 Murfreesboro Road just after 9 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers found 19-year-old Jacob Doughten with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Tennova Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 15-year-old boy was brought to the Tennova Hospital by private vehicle. He, too, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at a nearby restaurant. He was identified in court as Derrick Rucker.
At a brief hearing in Juvenile Court Monday morning, Rucker pleaded not guilty to a juvenile petition for aggravated robbery and criminal homicide in connection with one of the victims. The state intends to have the case moved to adult court where he would face the same charges.
At this time, Rucker is in a regional juvenile detention facility in Rutherford County.
Lebanon police said the shooting stemmed from two groups of young people who got into an argument at the gas station. The investigation is ongoing.
