CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two Clarksville men were killed in a single-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Montgomery County early Saturday morning.

It happened at Exit 1 near the Tennessee/Kentucky state line around 3 a.m.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Montgomery County deputy was traveling westbound on I-24 when a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 passed him at a high rate of speed.

A report states that the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the Camaro went around a commercial vehicle.

The driver of the Camaro attempted to pass a passenger vehicle at the same time another vehicle was changing lanes.

The THP report states the Camaro overcorrected and slid out of control and collided with a tree.

The driver of the Camero, 22-year-old Devin Spraggins was killed in the crash. His passenger,  20-year-old Terry Colgate, was also killed in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
