NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two men were arrested Saturday evening for possessing a handgun registered as stolen from the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police reported Diangelo Goliday, 24, was driving with passenger Ricky Brown, 38, in north Nashville when a Metro police officer pulled the men over because Brown was not wearing a seat belt.
According to an affidavit, the arresting officer smelled marijuana coming from inside the car and elected to search the vehicle.
The officer reportedly found 32 grams of marijuana, digital scales and a Glock 23 semi-automatic handgun. A records check showed the handgun to be a stolen Metro Police Department backup weapon.
Goliday was charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, drug possession, possession of a firearm, theft of property and driving with a revoked license. His bond was set at $69,500.
Brown was charged with felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm, theft of property, and drug possession. His bond was set at $90,000
Both men are due in court Tuesday.
