Two soldiers with the 101st Airborne were killed in a helicopter crash at Fort Campbell Friday night.
The crash happened at the base just before 10 p.m.
Fort Campbell reported the AH-64E Apache crash occurred in a training area and was part of a routine exercise.
The names of the deceased soldiers was not immediately released pending notification of next-of-kin.
No one else was injured in the crash.
“This is a day of sadness for Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne,” said Brig. Gen. Todd Royar,” acting senior commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Families during this difficult time.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
