One person was critically injured in a shooting late Tuesday night in North Nashville.
According to Metro police, an officer was in the area of 25th Avenue North around 9:15 p.m. when he heard gunshots.
The officer located the victim on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries considered to be “potentially life-threatening,” police said.
As the suspect was fleeing the scene, a utility pole was struck and fell into the roadway.
Power was knocked out to nearby homes. NES crews were called to the scene to help clear the damage and restore power to impacted homes.
Officers in tactical gear arrived to the scene of the shooting around 6:30 a.m.
Metro police told News 2 the SWAT team was serving warrants to residents after reviewing surveillance footage from the time of the shooting.
At least one person was taken into custody without incident.
