In his lengthy coaching career, Tennessee offensive coordinator Jim Chaney has done a little bit of everything.

Chaney has coached the offensive line, quarterbacks and tight ends at various stages of his career.

In round two on Rocky Top, he hauls a lighter load.

The Vols’ offensive coordinator wasn’t assigned a specific position to coach. In a way that allows Chaney to be more of an offensive CEO.

“I tell you what, it’s easier to install an offensive when you’re in this role when you can go to room to room to room to room to room to be doggone sure nobody has any questions,” Chaney said Friday.

“I’m blessed here because the assistants Coach has put together here are fantastic,” he said. “There’s just nuances of the things that I like to do that they are not familiar with.”

The coaching veteran is most known for developing quarterbacks. For Jarrett Guarantano, this is his third OC in as many years.

Chaney said he’s most impressed with how eager the red-shirt junior is to learn.

Our first real chance to see a Chaney offense is right around the corner. The Vols spring game is April 13.
