OFFICIALS: 50,000 American citizens stranded overseas amid COVID-19


Nashville, Tenn. (ABC NEWS) — At least 50,000 American citizens are currently stranded overseas amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

ABC News reported that the state department has retrieved more than 9,000 Americans from 28 different countries. Officials said Americans are stranded due to border closures and flight cancellations.

State officials said there are at least 40 chartered flights scheduled in the next six days.
