NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested on Broadway after refusing to wear a face mask, according to Metro Police.
It happened Friday night on Fifth Avenue South and Broadway. Officers said they made contact with James Bell due to him not wearing a face mask during the order issued by the mayor’s office and Metro Health.
Officers the gave Bell a mask so he would be in compliance. Bell then walked away and took his mask off, throwing it into the roadway.
Officers made contact with Bell again, stating that if he did not wear the mask, he would be given a citation.
Bell then asked officers if he would be taken to jail for refusing to wear a face mask. Officers advised him that he would. Bell then told officers to take him to jail.
Bell was taken into custody and found to have an outstanding warrant for assault.

Metro police said the enhanced mask enforcement initiative will continue Saturday afternoon and evening.
