2 Gives Back stayed close to home this week when they stopped by Station 26 of the Nashville Fire Department in Antioch.
Each week, News 2 partners with Nissan of Cool Springs to deliver lunch and say “thank you” to the men and woman who keeps us safe.
Just because we were stopping by didn’t mean the guys at the station got to take a break. While we were there the paramedics had to leave and respond to a possible gunshot wound.
That quickly reminded us that firefighters are not just rescuing cats from trees and putting out fires. A firefighter is present at nearly every 911 call that is responded to.
Ryan White, a rookie firefighter at the station, told us he would do his job for free and he’s never been happier with his career. He also told us that his station stays busy because of wrecks on the interstate.
Firefighter White’s station is responsible for the section of Interstate 24 at Bell Road. He said their job would be a lot easier if people would just stay off their phones, even in standstill traffic.
