Belmont is keeping it in the family for their new head men’s basketball coach.

Bruins Director of Athletics Scott Corley announced the hiring of Belmont alum and former Lipscomb coach Casey Alexander as the 10th head men’s basketball coach in program history on Wednesday.

“Casey embodies everything we are looking for in our next head coach,” Corley said in the official Belmont Athletics release.

The news comes after long-time head coach Rick Byrd announced his retirement after 33 years with Belmont.

Alexander coached the Bisons to the NIT Championship game before ultimately falling to Texas for the Title.

He will be formally introduced Thursday at a 9 a.m. press conference on Belmont’s Campus.
