Tori Gessner joined the News 2 team in July 2022. Originally from Hampton Roads, VA, she is thrilled to call Middle Tennessee home!
Tori is an award-winning journalist who comes from the NBC affiliate in Louisville, KY where she spent two years as a reporter and fill-in anchor, most notably covering the civil unrest following Breonna Taylor’s death, the deadly 2021 tornadoes in Mayfield, and reporting live from Churchill Downs at the 147th and 148th Kentucky Derbys.
Before moving to Derby City, Tori reported as a one-woman band for WKRN’s sister station, WBTW in Myrtle Beach, SC for two years working wall-to-wall coverage in the field during two hurricanes—Florence and Dorian—and covering the historic flooding that followed.
Tori earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Carolina and is a proud Gamecock! (Please don’t judge her, Vols and Vandy fans!)
When Tori isn’t running around town with her camera, you can find her eating her way through the Nashville area, shopping for home decor and clothes, watching her favorite reality tv shows, and playing with her German Shepherd, Rhetta.
Please send Tori a message if you have a story idea, or want to say, “hi!”
