Meteorologist
Shelby Mac joined News 2 in February of 2023. She grew up in the Murfreesboro area and she is so excited to be back on her home turf! Her passion for weather stemmed from the 2009 Good Friday Tornado that ripped through the Middle Tennessee community with devastating results. This event instilled in Shelby the importance of understanding weather and alerting the public.
She pursued her love of science and meteorology by attending Mississippi State University, where she graduated with a major in Professional Meteorology and a minor in Broadcast in May 2021.
Shelby was formerly the Weekend Meteorologist at WTOK in Meridian, Mississippi, while finishing her college career. Before joining the WKRN team she worked as the morning meteorologist for KAMC in Lubbock, Texas. She loved being involved with the community through events and school visits and can’t wait to do the same in Nashville and the surrounding areas.
In her free time, Shelby enjoys hiking, eating at local restaurants, and traveling to new places. To learn more about Shelby, follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
