Host of Local On 2
Laura Schweizer is an award-winning journalist, cat mom, and co-host of Local On 2. She joined the WKRN News 2 team in October of 2021 as the Alert Desk Anchor and joined the LO2 team in July 2022.
Moving to Music City from Honolulu, Hawaii, Laura joined News 2 as a previous journalist at KITV4 Island News. Every evening, Laura hosted her own segment, Trending Tonight, on the station’s 6 & 10 p.m. newscasts. She also created and hosted the station’s first digital segments – Island Explorer, and Hawaii’s Top Headlines.
Laura’s professional career began in Southwest Colorado where she helped develop a digital media company, 4CornersTV, covering local news and feature stories – igniting her passion for adventure. There, she experienced skydiving, whitewater rafting, paragliding, snowboarding, and more!
The city of Denver then called her name, and she went on to work for various media outlets including the city’s fashion publication, 303 Magazine, where Laura was invited to host multiple Denver Fashion Week events.
While news, adventure, and fashion may rank high on Laura’s list of interests, so does giving back. Coming to the Volunteer State, Laura has a history of doing just that — whether it is prepping and providing food for the elderly or traveling to Tibet to develop clean water sources. Service is an important part of her life.
