Dawn Davenport joined the News 2 sports team in July of 2008 as a sports reporter and anchor.
She was born in Plano, Texas, but basically grew up in Atlanta (Peachtree City) Georgia, where she became and remains a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves. Her father graduated from Duke University and her mom and dad raised both her and her brother to LOVE Duke Basketball!
Despite her mom's encouragement to attend her alma mater, The University of Georgia, Dawn made the right decison and graduated with honors from Auburn University in December of 2002, with a degree in Mass Communication/Radio Television, Film and a minor in Theatre. She played volleyball at Auburn and was a two-time SEC Academic All-American. You can always find her cheering on her Auburn Tigers in every sport!
Before landing in Middle Tennessee, Dawn started her career in Wilmington, North Carolina, and then Richmond Virginia where she was a part of a sports department that won the AP Award for Best year-round Sports Coverage twice. She loves to find unique local sports stories-if you have any ideas, let Dawn know!
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys working out, watching and playing all sports, and is still trying to become decent at that pesky game of golf! She loves to travel anywhere warm, and also enjoys mentoring with various children's programs.
