DESTIN, FL (WFLA) - Beach-goers in Destin, Florida had a near-miss with a hungry hammerhead shark.

Their close encounter was captured on video from observers overhead in the Silver Beach Towers. The video was posted to YouTube by user Scott McCain last week.

The large shark is seen on video in shallow water off the Destin beach. The onlookers tried to warn them, screaming "get out of the water!" but the clueless swimmers didn't appear to notice the shark until it started splashing around next to them while going after its prey. However, as soon as they did, they ran their way to shore.

The video, posted to YouTube on August 24th, has gone viral and has nearly 1.2 million views.
