Man rescued after jumping into Cumberland River

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man was rescued after he reportedly jumped into the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. on the Victory Memorial Bridge which is James Robertson Parkway near the Gay Street Connector.

He was rescued just before 4 p.m. His condition was not immediately released.

News 2 has since learned the man was attempting to commit suicide.
