GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -

A fundraiser for a White House boy who nearly drowned last month raised $17,000.

The Pray for Michael event for six-year-old Michael Sloan was held in Goodlettsville at the First Baptist Church on 613 South Main Street Saturday.

The money raised will help the Sloan family purchase a wheelchair accessible van. The event was also a chance for Michael's father, PJ, to share his son's progress.

"They have declared him medically conscious now," he said.  "He's starting to actually be able to eat food.”

On Sunday, a White House business called Soccer Shots will have soccer clinics for children.

The proceeds will help the Sloan family pay medical bills.
