33 arrested in Sumner County drug trafficking investigation
GALLATIN, Tenn. -
Authorities in Sumner County Thursday morning announced the arrest of 33 individuals following a yearlong investigation into drug trafficking in the county.
The arrests were announced during a news conference at the Gallatin Police Department.
The charges involve heroin, cocaine, marijuana and money laundering.
In addition to the drugs, authorities seized weapons, more than $230,000 in cash, $200,000 in jewelry and electronics and 27 vehicles.
“Nashville and the surrounding counties, as we all know, are growing very fast and unfortunately the crime and the drug activity is growing and that's the reason we've attacked this so aggressively,” Sumner County District Attorney Ray Whitley said.
Authorities said there are seven other individuals named in the indictment who have not yet been arrested.
