Victims identified in Washington Co, TN fatal crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - The Washington County TN Sheriff's Office released the names of the two men involved in the crash.

According to investigators, a 2005 Nissan Frontier driven by Ricky Tweed, 54, Telford, cross the center line of the road and hit another pick-up truck driven by Walter Berkley, 22, Jonesborough.   

Tweed died from his injuries.

Berkley's injuries were described as "non-incapacitating."

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies said a man driving a Nissan pickup crossed the center line and hit a Dodge pickup.

The Nissan driver was killed and the man driving the Dodge truck had minor injuries.

WCSO deputies said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and said it is unknown at this time if seat belts were worn by both drivers.

The names of those involved should be released later tonight pending the notification of the families.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal confirmed that a fatal crash has occurred on Bowmantown Road.

The crash, which happened around 3:25 p.m., involved two vehicles and one fatality has been reported.

Graybeal said the crash happened just past Old Stagecoach Road on Bowmantown Road.

He said WCSO deputies and other emergency personnel are responding to the scene.

News Channel 11 has a reporter heading to the scene and we will post updates with more information as it becomes available.
