Woman survives 8 days in car; uses plastic bags to catch rain for water

Muskogee, OK -
An Oklahoma woman survived eight days in her car after it went down an embankment into a muddy ditch. Kay Springer was out running errands when she became disoriented. Her car ran off the road and sat there more than a week until she was rescued. Her car got stuck in the mud near the Arkansas River below Highway 62. She couldn't climb out of the steep embankment.
Doctors say she became disoriented because her cancer came back and the tumor had swelled up and basically knocked her unconscious.
She survived on little food and water and her inhaler for her COPD ran out the first day.
Springer hallucinated thinking she was seeing her children and movie stars.
As the days dragged on she drifted in and out of a present state of mind. Even when she was aware of what was happening and she saw the road and trucks passing by, she didn't have the energy or capacity to go get help.
She had the shopping bags from the errands she'd run which made perfect rain catchers and that's how she got water.
Finally on the eight day a fisherman saw the car from the river. Her doctors were able to remove all of her tumor and now she's getting radiation and spending time at home with her four grandchildren.
