COLUMBUS, Ohio -

A man was killed and a woman was injured following a shooting in Franklinton Thursday afternoon.

Columbus police officers and medic personnel were called to the front of a home located in the 10 block of Hawkes Avenue, near West Broad Street, at about 3:03 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers and medics located two people inside of a vehicle that was parked on Hawkes Avenue. The two victims, identified as 30-year-old Dionte Agee, and 27-year-old Sierraerica Gabbert, appeared to have been shot, according to police.

Gabbert and Agee were transported to Mount Carmel West hospital in critical condition. Agee was pronounced dead hours after arriving at the hospital, according to police.

According to detectives on scene, at least two, possibly three, unknown male suspects approached the vehicle Gabbert and Agee had been sitting in and opened fire on the occupants.

Initial information from the scene indicated the suspects may have left the scene in a black Honda CR-V, but that information has not been confirmed at this time, according to detectives.

Residents in the area tell NBC4 they heard between eight and nine shots fired in the area. One man says he saw two men running from the area of the shooting with large guns.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide and shooting is asked to contact Columbus police homicide detectives at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
