LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -

A Lawrenceburg couple hopes police can find the people responsible for stealing toys and figurines from their child’s gravesite.

The thefts occurred at the Houser Cemetery on Waterloo Road in Lawrenceburg, about 80 miles southwest of Nashville.

David Surgeon and his wife April planned to bring their son Lucas home from the hospital in February of this year. Instead, he was stillborn.

The Surgeons had placed Mickey and Minnie Mouse figurines, a Mickey Mickey Mouse car figurine and a Disney solar landscape light at the gravesite.

When the couple went to visit the grave last Sunday night, they discovered the toys missing.

"It basically rips your heart out," David told News 2. "This is a baby and they stole everything he had."

The items had an estimated value of more than $200.

The Surgeons have since replaced some of the toys that were stolen, but they were unable to find replacements for all of them.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact the Criminal Investigations Division of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department at 931-762-1608.
