Three men were arrested Saturday after they allegedly kidnapped a man and woman in DeKalb County and beat them with an axe handle.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the incident happened Friday night at a bridge on New Bildad Road in Smithville.

Jimmy Hendrixson, Casey Jacobs and Comas Higgins reportedly assaulted the man and woman with an axe handle, tied them up and taped their mouths shut.

The male victim managed to escape and ran to a nearby residence for help.

While the male victim got away, the suspects drove the female victim to their home on Old Snow Hill Road in Doweltown, which is about 15 miles away.

The sheriff and deputies interviewed the male victim, which led them to the suspects’ home.

They found the woman at the residence and arrested Hendrixson, Jacobs and Higgins.

Bond was set at $150,000 for each of them and they’re all due in court July 31.

Neither victim was seriously hurt.

The sheriff gave no motive for the assault or kidnapping and said it was still under investigation.
