Nashville police investigating alleged push poll

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Nashville police are attempting to track down who or what organization has been making calls pretending to be the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and conducting a push poll in a school board race.

Police spokesman Don Aaron told WSMV-TV in Nashville (http://bit.ly/1r8RxZi ) it will be difficult to track who made the calls, but the fraud department is working with communications companies to track the origin.

Officials say the calls are aimed at getting a respondent to favor one candidate over another.

The camber believes up to 1,000 people may have received the push poll in their name, but chamber officials say they didn't know about it until they began receiving complaints.

Chamber officials say they serve as the voice of business and do not get involved with school board elections.
