Music City sees rainy start to weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Light showers are dampening Nashville and Middle Tennessee on Friday morning.

Rain chances will last through Saturday in most areas, so keep the umbrella handy. No severe storms are expected with this weather system.

Heavier rain will lift from south to north into southern Middle Tennessee later Friday afternoon and evening.

Up to one inch of rainfall is expected in those areas through Midnight.

Those downpours may reach Nashville and the I-40 corridor before Midnight.

The organized rains should last through Saturday morning.

Rain chances will continue for areas east of I-65 through Saturday afternoon.

Rain totals with this system will be lowest in the northwest corner of Middle Tennessee. Less than a quarter inch is expected in Clarksville.

Southern and eastern parts of the Mid-STate may pick up two inches of rain as this system cross the Mid-South.

Nashville will be in middle, likely seeing around one inch of precipitation.
