Tennessee Volunteers hit SEC Media Days

Despite a 5-7 rookie season at Tennessee, Volunteers head coach Butch Jones still has the SEC talking. At the league’s annual Media Days Jones pointed to his 32 player recruiting class and the impact it will have this season.

Jones said Middle Tennessee stars Josh Malone and Jalen Hurd will both play a lot for the Volunteers this season.

The Tennessee fan base has embraced Jones for his reverence of Tennessee’s history and his tireless work on the recruiting trail, Jones said, “Their patience and their loyalty will soon be rewarded and we're going through a process and were going through it together and you know we're going through the reality of building, but we are going to build it right.”

Tennessee returns 11 starters but must replace the entire starting offensive and defensive lines. With three non-conference games again bowl champions the Vols are also facing one of the toughest schedules in the country.

Jones said the Vols are not running from the challenge, “Well, you have to embrace it. And within every great challenge is also a great opportunity and we're going to find out exactly where we're at in a hurry.”

Before the Volunteers kickoff against Utah State on August 31st they have to find a quarterback. Justin Worley and Joshua Dobbs both started last season and are battling for the spot again.
