Hearing pushed back for accused killer of Johnny Cash's great-niece

BAXTER, Tenn. - The hearing for the man accused of killing Johnny Cash’s great-niece earlier this year has been rescheduled until November.

Wayne Masciarella is charged with first degree murder for the stabbing death of Courtney Cash.

The 23-year-old mother was stabbed multiple times before being stuffed inside a box during a brutal attack inside her Baxter, Tennessee home, about 100 miles east of Nashville, on March 19.

Cash’s boyfriend, Austin Johnson, was also injured during the attack, but was able to escape with the couple’s young daughter, who was unharmed.

Masciarella has since pled not guilty to the charges against him.

A motive for Cash's murder and the violent attack has not been released. All three adults had been out together the night of Cash's death.

Masciarellais being held in the Putnam County jail without bond.
