Safety features coming to Highway 70, McCrory Lane train crossing

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A railroad crossing in Bellevue will be getting new safety features to prevent crashes after multiple cars were struck by trains this year.

Metro councilman and state representative Bo Mitchell posted on social media that TDOT approved a request he made to improve the intersection at McCrory Lane and Highway 70.

He began pushing for the changes after five teenagers riding in an SUV were struck by a train last month. They were all injured.

And in late March, a woman's car was also struck by a CSX train leaving her injured.

The state will soon be installing a traffic signal, turn lanes and crossing arms in order to make the intersection more safe.
