SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
A California mother said she was kicked out of a Brad Paisley concert for breastfeeding.
Megan Christopherson was attending the event at the Sleep Train Amphitheater in San Diego with her baby and eight-year-old daughter. They were standing in the pit area.
She said she was nursing her daughter before the concert when a security officer approached her.
"She said that there were complaints about me and that I needed to stop. So, I said I’ll stop when my baby's done nursing,” explained Christopherson.
An officer later confronted her and asked her to move for the safety of her children.
"It completely was a cop-out. They're trying to cover this up because they know they legally can't remove me for nursing,” Christopherson said.
The Chula Vista police, however, said it was simply a matter of safety.
“The child doesn't have hearing protection on. The crowd is going to surge forward where you're at. You're gonna get crushed. So we're afraid of your child getting crushed and we're afraid of your child's ear drums being hurt."
A video of the incident was placed on YouTube.
Christopherson said she will continue to take her children to concerts, but she will no longer attend events at this particular venue.
