NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Three people were arrested Wednesday night in connection to a sex trafficking and prostitution case out of south Nashville.

Efren Guerra, 36, and Arnulfo Vasquez-Sanchez, 29, were both charged with trafficking for commercial sex and promoting prostitution. They were jailed in lieu of $80,000 bond each.

Maria Alarcon, 25, faces charges for prostitution and is being held on $20,000 bond.

Specialized Investigations Division detectives began investigating Guerra in April after receiving information that he was running a prostitution enterprise out of apartment C-17 at Glengarry Heights.

According to a press release, Guerra would advertise by passing out business cards to the Hispanic community.

Men would reportedly call and set up appointments before arriving to the apartment.

They would then pay Guerra $30 to have sex with a woman in one of the bedrooms.

Guerra was stopped and arrested on Interstate 24 Wednesday night a few hours before the execution of the search warrant.

Alarcon, who was found in the apartment, said she road a bus to Nashville Monday.

Vasquez-Sanchez, who was also in the apartment at the time, told detectives he was instructed by Guerra to “keep an eye on the girl.”

Detectives believe prostitutes in the apartment were frequently rotated in and out of Nashville.

The investigation is continuing into whether they were placed into the sex trade after being smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico.
