Dump truck fire near state capitol building

Firefighters put out a large trash fire in downtown Nashville early Thursday morning.

A Republic Services dump truck called fire crews to the 400 block of James Robertson Parkway when they noticed trash in their vehicle had caught fire.

The Nashville Fire Department removed the trash and placed it on the ground to extinguish it.

A spray truck was called to remove excess trash from the road.

The westbound  lanes of James Robertson Parkway were shut down for a short time.

No injuries were reported.
