Predators camp different under Laviolette

As the Predators hit the ice for developmental camp this week, there is already a change happening, according to the younger players.

Under new head coach Peter Laviolette the chance for more offense is very apparent. Phillip Forsberg, one of the Preds top prospects, was delighted to be actually practicing with a puck from the start of camp.

This is did not happen under head coach Barry Trotz.

Forsberg said, “Well, last year we did a lot more skating, like no pucks and stuff for the first few days. So, first of all, we got to touch the pucks for the first few days and that was something that I was really looking forward to.”

His excitement was echoed by forward Brendan Leipsic.

“Obviously, last year on the ice was more skating. Today was more skill work offensively focused, I think. I'm an offensive guy, so if I can put the puck in the net a couple more times even in practice I'll take it."

The Preds continue with camp the rest of the week while the new head coach and his staff look to see who may be available to make the jump to Nashville this season.
