Los Angeles teen, Claire Wineland, receives prestigious award for her foundations dedication to making a difference in the lives of others living with cystic fibrosis.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 09, 2014

Claires Place Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by 17-year-old Claire Wineland, was awarded Small Nonprofit Organization of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal for their work helping children and families affected by cystic fibrosis.

On June 25th the Los Business Journal presented Claire, who was born with cystic fibrosis, with their Organization of the Year award in the small organization category at their fourth annual Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards. The sold-out event recognized more than 100 nominees, both individuals and organizations that are making an outstanding impact in our community. The awards are designed to honor those professionals and organizations in the nonprofit world that continue to make a difference even under financial constraints.

I was just about speechless when they called my name to accept the award, said Claire. We are so very lucky to live in a world where when we see a need in a community of people we can make a difference. I am just so honored to be in the company of all of these organizations making the world a better place.

Just in the past year Claires Place has been awarded three grants, been featured in Ladies Home Journal, given funds to cystic fibrosis (CF) families to aide with their hospital bills, welcomed two new board members, end executed numerous fundraisers.

As the founder of Claires Place, Claire is the driving force of the foundations mission. She finds new ways to spread their message, educates the public about CF, reaches out to the children and families with CF that need their assistance, and comes up with new unique ideas for fundraisers such as a Flash Mob and a poker event. Claire truly lives a fulfilling life while taking care of her condition, making meaning of what she has had to go through, and giving back to those that need her sunshine and strength.

Claire and Claire's Place Foundation are also featured in the June 30th issue of the Los Angeles Business Journal, highlighting Claires story and the foundations programs.
