NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles left four people injured Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 24.

The crash took place around 1:30 p.m. in eastbound lanes near exit 44B, at the I-65 interchange just south of Briley Parkway.

The accident happened when a Chrysler Sebring driven by William Miller was in the far left lane and attempted to switch to the middle lane.

Authorities said Miller didn’t realize traffic was at a standstill, causing him to slam into a Ford Explorer carrying Patricia Dreher and two juveniles.

Both juveniles were injured, one seriously, and transported to the Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital. An update on their condition was not immediately known.

Miller wasn’t injured, but his passenger, Lottie Miller, was transported to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

The impact caused a chain reaction with two other vehicles, injuring one of the drivers identified as Brin Schooley. She was also transported to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the fourth vehicle was uninjured.
